Martine Rose partners with Bates Military Footwear

Martine Rose has partnered with elite military outfitters Bates for her AW13 Collection as part of London Collections: Men.

Developing and extending the utilitarian approach as the Martine Rose boy has matured, the military references and function of the uniform footwear label worked in parallel to the collection, which featured a selection of Bates’ innovative and superior products designed to serve elite military organizations in more than sixty countries

Speaking on sourcing Bates for her AW13 presentation, Martine said: The partnership with Bates came across really organically. With military providing the fundamental theme across most menswear and function being key for Martine Rose as a brand a partnership with Bates became almost inevitable. Developing and extending the utilitarian approach as the Martine Rose boy has matured, the military references from Bates compliment the collection perfectly.

Drawing on her time spent in Jamaica, Martine Rose takes inspiration from the rites and rituals of the Rasta community. Elevation and status are key aspects to the community, but not through riches, through an attitude, an idea, almost a code of conduct. The images of Haile Selassie I, the Lion of Judah, are hugely prominent across the community and this idea of an all-consuming image is repeated throughout the collection.

Bates will be available to view alongside the Martine Rose collection from the 18th January – 22nd January at LONDON show ROOMS MEN AW13: Le LOFT – Off Rue Saint Antoine 28 Impasse Guéménée, 3 Court Bérard, 75004 Paris (4eme)
